Paul has been working in the pharmaceutical industry for over two decades, often quoted as saying no two days are ever the same, keeping the journey varied and motivating. The role of business intelligence continues to evolve, Paul has been a catalyst in this space having been proud to be part of the board of the British Healthcare Business Intelligence Association (BHBIA) from 2015 and annually voted the Chair from 2020 to today. The mission is to inspire a diverse community of business insights professionals to deliver compelling insights which will drive decision-making and help advance UK healthcare.
This has been the driver for Paul to take the opportunity to lead GTMx Consulting, building on diverse and varied experiences across the business intelligence spectrum. This is rooted in a passion for improving the nation’s healthcare with the development and delivery of next generation solutions for enabling health system success.
A graduate in Management from the University of Central Lancashire, Paul started his career with ExxonMobil as a project analyst working on the Esso and Tesco alliance. After considering applying for a graduate management scheme with ExxonMobil, Paul saw an opportunity to join Novo Nordisk as a Business Information Analyst. Spending 13 years at Novo Nordisk, gaining a wealth of technical and leadership skills with many opportunities to lead teams including in Northern Europe and gaining significant experience with global projects in CRM, segmentation, targeting, analytics and in-country audits facilitated driving commercial excellence. During this time Paul achieved his MSc in Marketing from the University of South Wales reinforcing the role of business intelligence throughout the marketing cycle which also supported the thinking behind many product launches, line extensions and product discontinuations, recognised with a number of external best of business intelligence (BOBI) awards.
Paul joined Sanofi in 2014 to gain broader responsibility from a both a portfolio and leadership perspective. Taking the accountability for field force capabilities and applying business intelligence processes and people skills to evolve business models from traditional coverage and frequency models to a key account excellence approach and a change in go to market strategy to best suit the portfolio which incorporated an omnichannel strategy stretching back to 2018.
During the pandemic in 2020, Paul was seconded for three months to work alongside NHS England and the Department of Health as part of the COVID-19 response team ensuring that a process was implemented ensuring the provision of testing swabs were consistently available in priority hospitals when demand was outstripping supply. This was primarily focussed on the principles of segmentation, targeting, forecasting and KPI creation with reporting capabilities.
Fast forward to 2024, with a wealth of people leadership, data literacy and technological capability, now is the time to deliver commercial excellence together, building on this experience to make a positive impact.
Outside of his professional commitments and linking to Paul’s values of hard work, teamwork and humility Paul is a qualified UEFA C football coach. Coaching both boys and girls grassroots football teams since 2018, alongside continuing to play competitive league football and supporting Crawley Town with his family.
